Getting started with Aigento
Updated Oct 23, 2026
Aigento is a helpdesk for online stores. Customer emails, chats and contact
form messages arrive in one inbox as tickets, with the customer's Shopify
orders beside them, and an AI agent drafts or sends replies grounded in your
own help articles. This article takes you from sign-up to your first answered
ticket.
1. Sign up
Go to https://app.aigen.to and sign in with Continue with Google, or
enter your email and click Send magic link; there is no password. Your
first sign-in creates your workspace, named after your email's domain, and
opens your inbox.
Installed Aigento from the Shopify App Store instead? Your workspace and store
connection are already made; open Aigento from your Shopify admin and carry on
from step 4.
2. Let the setup chat guide you
A bubble above the chat button in the corner of the dashboard says Send me
your URL and I'll help you get going! Send your website's address and
Aigento's own assistant walks you through the setup one question at a time:
your chat's colour and greeting, your help articles, your Shopify store, your
FAQ pages and more. You can skip any question and come back later, and
everything it sets up is also in Settings.
Prefer to do it by hand? Close the bubble, and the inbox shows a Finish
setting up Aigento checklist with the same steps, each linking to the right
page.
3. Connect your Shopify store
Connect your store so every ticket shows the customer's orders and the AI can
look orders up. See Connecting your Shopify store.
4. Open your channels
Decide where customers reach you. Each is in Settings → Channels:
- Email: forward your support address to Aigento. See Forwarding your
support email to Aigento. - Chat on your Shopify store: switch on the Aigento chat app embed. See
Turning on storefront chat. - Chat on any other website: paste one snippet. See Adding Aigento chat
to your website. - Contact form: use your hosted contact page, or put the form inside your
own site. See Putting the contact form on your website.
5. Teach the AI
The AI grounds its answers in your knowledge base. Add your shipping, returns
and FAQ content in Knowledge: write articles, or point Aigento at your
website's pages and accept what it proposes. See Knowledge base basics
and How AI drafts use your knowledge base.
6. Invite your team
Go to Settings → Team → Invite Member. See Team roles and access
control.
7. Send yourself a test ticket
Open your contact page (the checklist's Send yourself a test ticket row
links to it), send a message from another email address and watch it arrive
in the inbox. Reply to it to see the whole round trip. See Replying to a
customer, internal notes and undo send.
Coming from another helpdesk?
Settings → Data → Import from another helpdesk brings over your past
conversations from Gorgias, Zendesk or Intercom. See Switching from Gorgias
to Aigento.
